As I walk along the beach, trying to save water from touching my feet while trying to maintain a straight line of footsteps, I look back at the 4 steps fallen out.
And I look up at the swirling fan and the light and then shut my eyes to follow the faint white string of light, the light is dark and the background white, I squeeze them further and the image inverses, only that I can’t really focus on the light. The more I look at it, the more it fades out; the more I look away, the more it gets back in the frame, playing at the edges.
As the curtain plays infront of the AC blower, making a free flowing cascade, the act is stopped by a fold that stays. A thread is pulled and the fold stays.
What is seen with eyes wide open is far too bright for the eyes used to dimness, I prefer to shut them to a level where the lashes cover up the open window. The view is obscure, like through a veil. It is better, like in a dream, with hazy smoke and leaves out of focus spread around the bright blot of flower I think. I don’t need the details. The haziness is better. The ambiguity is better. Ambiguity is like romance, it’s like a tease that keeps me hooked. It’s my bait.
As I walk looking back at the 4 steps falling out wondering if I should walk backwards to correct the line with new steps, a large wave washes the shore off. Taking away with it all the errors back in the ocean. The slate is wiped clean. As I look through the half open dazed eyes right at the light, the red light stays there – within focus and the batting eyelids make the lashes with tears form little leafy structures, way too close to be in focus.. One big whiff and the curtain cascades are back into action, forming an infinite follow through along the edges.
The edges are where I breathe. These are the main times. These are the only times that deserve a live in.
Like trying to correct mistakes made in the past… Like seeking to reconnect with that thread of knowledge which may perhaps give a perspective, yet unexamined….. An experience of near divine brilliance. A brief encounter with the essence of life and living.
Brilliant !
